Virginia Cancer Specialists' Physicians

Dr. Christie served ten years in the United States Army, where he was stationed at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and was named Chief of Hematology/Oncology Services and Director of the Autologous Stem Cell Transplant Program. During his time at Walter Reed, Dr Christie completed additional specialized training at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Fred Hutchison Cancer Research Center, and Lombardi Cancer Center.

Dr. Christie has authored several publications and is a member of professional organizations including the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer. He has been recognized as a Top Doctor in Northern Virginia Magazine and the Washingtonian magazine for four consecutive publications. He was also named to Castle Connolly’s prestigious America’s Top Doctors list in 2012, 2013, and 2014. Dr. Christie has a special interest in lung cancer, lymphoma, and hematologic malignancies. He is involved in the local medical community, participating in hospital-based tumor boards and serving as the Chairman of the Virginia Hospital Center Pharmacy and Therapeutic Committee. Dr. Christie is a member of both the ASCO Thoracic Oncology Guideline Advisory Group, as well as the ASCO Practice Guidelines Implementation Network.

In his spare time, Dr. Christie enjoys traveling and gardening. Born in Seville, Spain, Dr. Christie is fluent in Spanish, French, and Italian.
