About Eileen Byrne
Eileen Byrne is a board-certified Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner providing compassionate, evidence-based care to hematology and oncology patients at Virginia Cancer Specialists. She specializes in comprehensive assessment, symptom management, triage, and patient education, collaborating closely with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to support patients and caregivers throughout treatment
Prior to joining Virginia Cancer Specialists, Eileen practiced at Maryland Oncology Hematology as a Nurse Practitioner caring for medical complex hematology and oncology patients. She previously served as an Advanced Clinical Nurse at Mercy Medical Center in gynecologic oncology and worked in both inpatient and outpatient hematologic oncology at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where she also held roles including charge nurse and preceptor
Eileen is proficient in iKnowMed EHR and Epic Systems, an Oncology Nursing Society member, and a DAISY Award nominee—reflecting both her technical expertise and commitment to patient-centered care. Outside of work, she is a three‑time marathon finisher (NYC ’19, ’22; Chicago ’21), bringing the same determination and resilience to her practice and her patients.
