About Amy Williamson
Amy L. Williamson is a licensed and board-certified genetic counselor with extensive experience in cancer genetics and inherited metabolic diseases. She began her clinical career at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where she developed and implemented genetic counseling services for the Program for Inherited Metabolic Diseases and Mitochondrial Disease Clinic. Amy also served as a supervisor and educator for genetic counseling students and medical trainees.
She has provided high-volume cancer genetic counseling through in-person and telehealth visits in oncology practices, most recently at Virginia Cancer Specialists, where she was actively involved in tumor boards and contributed as the genetics representative for the Commission on Cancer at Virginia Hospital Center and Reston Hospital Center. Amy also lectured local medical communities and onboarding nursing staff.
In addition to clinical work, Amy has experience as a genetic counselor speaker for AstraZeneca, educating healthcare providers on homologous recombination repair deficiency and hereditary cancer genetic testing. Her research interests are reflected in her numerous publications related to genetic disorders and cancer genetics.
Amy is passionate about mentoring genetic counseling students and advancing the field through education and collaboration. Outside of work, she enjoys contributing to volunteer programs and supporting patient advocacy.
