We are proud to celebrate Dr. Sandeep J. Khandhar of Virginia Cancer Specialists, who has been named Surgeon Educator of the Year 2025 by the Inova General Surgery Residency program, one of only two surgeons to receive this prestigious honor.
In a groundbreaking achievement, Dr. Khandhar performed the first-ever single-port robotic lung resection in the Mid-Atlantic using Intuitive Surgical’s newest robotic platform. This state-of-the-art system allows surgeons to perform complex lung cancer procedures through just one small incision, representing a major advance in minimally invasive thoracic surgery.
