I was diagnosed with cancer in 2015 at the age of 68. I was referred to Dr. Sarma at Virginia Cancer Specialists. I had to do two rounds of chemo and six weeks of radiation. I was so lucky to have a wonderful family who were my support system throughout diagnosis and treatment.

After treatment, I slowly got strong again and now I’m able to spend fun time with my grandchildren. Treatment was tough on me not only physically, but mentally as well. I would tell anyone who is newly diagnosed to be prepared mentally for a strong fight, and don’t give up!

My care team at Virginia Cancer Specialists was also a great source of support. They are all so nice and did whatever they could to help get me the through my cancer. They had to make many calls to get my chemo medication for me at home with the benefits I had, but they found it for me. Dr. Sarma was so kind, compassionate and caring when we came in for appointments, and was so accommodating when we had to call after hours with questions.

I would tell anyone considering Virginia Cancer Specialists for their cancer treatment that they will be very well taken care of. If I had to do it again, I wouldn’t choose to go anywhere else!
