Sharon Freeman is a board-certified Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner and Oncology Certified Nurse currently practicing at Virginia Cancer Specialists’ Reston office. She brings over a decade of experience in oncology and internal medicine, with a strong foundation in both inpatient and outpatient care.
Prior to joining Virginia Cancer Specialists, Sharon worked as a nurse practitioner at MedStar Georgetown Internal Medicine Clinic, where she cared for a diverse patient population and managed a wide range of conditions including chronic illness, survivorship care, and urgent needs. Her earlier experience includes several years as an oncology nurse at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, where she provided direct care to patients undergoing chemotherapy, palliative treatment, and post-operative recovery.
Sharon has presented nationally on end-of-life care and communication and has received multiple awards for clinical excellence and leadership. Her professional interests include oncology, geriatric care, mental health, and patient advocacy.
