Transportation services
Here are organizations that provide transportation resources for individuals affected by cancer.

- Road to Recovery provides ambulatory cancer patients with ground transportation to and from cancer treatment. Rides are dependent on volunteer driver availability.
- Patients must be traveling to an appointment required to begin or complete cancer treatment, or to an appointment for complementary therapy during cancer treatment.
- Transportation cannot be provided for follow-up appointments after treatment has been completed. Patients must be ambulatory, able to walk unassisted to and from the vehicle, or have an accompanying caregiver to assist. Patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a legally responsible adult such as a parent or caregiver.
- A four business day advance notice is required; not including the date transportation is needed. Languages: English, Spanish.

- For a fee, non-emergency medical transportation provider serving Virginia, Maryland and DC. Does service Inova area hospitals.
- We provide professional, door-to-door non-emergency medical transportation which is available to all people. Our specialized transportation responsibilities include but are not limited to: senior citizens, people using wheelchairs or stretchers and parents and children with special needs.
- Our services are for private citizens, hospitals, doctors, insurance companies/HM Os, nursing or private group homes, and assisted living facilities. We assist clients from the time of pick-up to drop-off and make sure that they get there safely and on time.

Assisted Transportation for frail elderly and disabled adults who because of physical limitations are not able to use public transportation services. Please call to do an initial intake, after that call several days in advance to arrange for a ride.

- Non emergency transportation management. Medicaid uses this service for patients. Case management at patient’s hospital- can provide cab vouchers if a desperate need. Local churches/synagogues may have volunteers for their congregants – ask Patient for name of Church/Synagogue
- September 2016 Email Notice. The Cancer Support Community and the Lung Cancer Alliance are pleased to announce additional funding has been obtained to finance Transportation Assistance Grants for people with Stage 4 and Stage 3B lung cancer. Applications can be obtained by contacting the Cancer Support Helpline at 888.793.9355.
- Proof of income and medical documentation must accompany the application to determine eligibility. If successful, recipients will be granted a $200 gas card .
